Cron and scheduled job monitoringKnow when a job doesn’t run.
Backups, reports, scheduled jobs. Ping us; if the pings stop, we tell you.
Scheduled job · nightly-backupexpected every 3 min
Three steps.
Two minutes, one line of code.
- Create a scheduled job (heartbeat) monitor and say how often the job should run.
- Add one line to the end of your job. It pings the URL we give you.
- If a ping does not arrive, you get an alert. The next ping sends the all clear.
# at the end of your job
curl -fsS --retry 3 https://api.tidymonitor.com/api/ping/YOUR-TOKENYOUR-TOKEN is a placeholder. Your own URL is on the monitor page.
On every plan
Free included. It counts toward the 20 monitors on Free, like a website.
Your alert channels
The same ones as your websites: email, and WhatsApp and more on paid plans.
Start and fail
Ping /start when a job begins and /fail when it breaks. No need to wait for a missed ping.
Questions.
- What is cron and scheduled job (heartbeat) monitoring?
- Instead of us checking your website, your job checks in with us. When it finishes, it calls a URL. If the calls stop coming, we tell you the job did not run.
- Is scheduled job monitoring free on TidyMonitor?
- Yes. It is on every plan, Free included. A scheduled job counts as one of your monitors (20 on Free), the same as a website.
- How often can a job ping?
- As often as your plan checks: Free 3 min, Lite 1 min, Plus 1 min, Pro 30 s. Jobs that run less often, such as nightly backups, can be set to any longer period you pick.
- What do I add to my scheduled job?
- One line at the end, for example curl -fsS https://api.tidymonitor.com/api/ping/YOUR-TOKEN, using the ping URL from your monitor page. Use /start before the job and /fail if it breaks.
